Notes from Happy Half-Hours
June Happy Half-Hour:
In June, Katie Black, senior manager of social media for University Communication, presented her team's recent work in the East Campus Visitors Center – Dairy Store. The team designed graphics for the walls in one hallway and two communal areas. Katie worked with Revolution Wraps to produce the interior murals. The designs were created in illustrator and digitally mocked up before production. The team worked closely with Revolution Wraps to ensure the designs were correctly proportioned to fit the spaces. The final products included text-based design and two line-art landscapes reflecting the values of the university, especially the East Campus community.
July Happy Half-Hour:
In July, Craig Chandler, director of photography for University Communication, presented some of his recent work and gave insight into his approach to photography. Craig enjoys shooting with wide lenses and being emersed in the settings he is capturing. Craig likes to shoot portraits of students and faculty in their element. Getting to know them and learning about their interests can better inform a photoshoot and produce better work. Craig takes the photos in the university’s Digital Photo Archive, a great resource for visual communicators across campus.
